Review: Paramour Bra & Thong by Claudette

by Estelle Puleston

Disclaimer: I purchased this lingerie with my own money and Claudette did not request a review.

I’ve read amazing reviews of Claudette lingerie on half the lingerie blogs I follow, but it was only since the ‘old’ La Senza closed down that I started to look for new places to buy my everyday lingerie. According to many bloggers, Claudette is synonymous with a perfect fit and comfort so it seemed like the perfect place to start, especially when I spotted this gorgeous Paramour bra reduced to half price on ASOS…

Appearance

The set looked like a bright, lipstick red on the ASOS website but it’s actually a deeper, burgundy red (Claudette call it ‘garnet’) which I prefer. The satin and sheer mesh are both really high quality fabrics and the set is trimmed all round with a gorgeous picot trim. I love the contrasting black straps and bows too – actually, for an everyday set I love absolutely everything about it. It’s gorgeous!

My only complaint is that Claudette don’t offer a matching suspender belt, but that’s just personal preference and most bra sets out there are only available with knickers or a thong. So, I made myself a black suspender belt with burgundy bows to wear with it (shown in the picture) but of course I’m only basing my review on the actual Claudette pieces.

Verdict: 9 / 10

Construction

I can’t fault it. There are no loose threads, no uneven seams – in fact, the bra especially somehow manages to look and feel both really delicate and really strong at the same time!

Verdict: 10 / 10

Fit

I was a little worried about the fit because I usually wear a 32E or 30E/F depending on the brand, and this had already sold out in those sizes. A 32DD was the closest match and since it was on offer, I decided to risk it. I could probably have done with a 30E (which, frustratingly, is back in stock now I’ve worn this one) in this one because although the cups fit fine, the band is ever so slightly loose on the tighest setting (and will get looser over time). However, since I didn’t buy my usual size, I can’t really blame Claudette for that. The cups have a great shape and lift despite being unpadded, and the thong fits perfectly.

Verdict: 9 / 10

Washability

I’ve hand-washed the set twice now and it looks as good as new. I’d be a little worried about the delicate mesh or picot trim catching on something if I machine washed it, but since it doesn’t have any gems or beads that could fall off it would probably be safe in a lingerie bag if you don’t have time to hand wash.

Verdict: 9 / 10

Value For Money

I paid £31 in the sale but normally this set would cost £62. For £31, it’s been a brilliant purchase – no more expensive than my other day-to-day lingerie sets and definitely more glamorous.

Verdict: 8 / 10

Would I recommend it?

Yes, if you’re looking for a really comfortable bra set that fits well and is supportive for DD+, the Paramour bra set will be money well-spent.

Overall, I was really happy with my purchase and will be buying from Claudette again soon. You can pick up this set on the ASOS website where it’s still available in many sizes, and there’s also a black version for the same price. Oh, and if you like the elastic suspender belt that will be available in my summer collection launching in a couple of weeks too. I’d love to hear your own experiences with Claudette lingerie. Did you like it as much as I did?

Oh, the suspender belt matches really nice with the set! 🙂
I feel like there should be a matching belt with this set, for some reason.
I remember finding the wires too narrow (had to bend it to fit me). After neglecting it for few months in worries, upon wearing it, the bra was surprisingly comfortable.
Thanks for the review, btw. I read this before I bought my own!

I’m glad it helped 🙂 Aside from the En Dentelle (a little scratchy and a poor fit), I find Claudette’s bras super comfy and well-fitting!

This suspender belt is one of the first I ever made and definitely isn’t an all-day thing, the waistband is much too narrow to hold stockings up, but it did look pretty for the photo 🙂
